Work for us
It’s a cliché but it definitely applies: The Fringe is an experience like no other! We produce the widest programme at the largest arts festival in the world and as part of our team, you’ll get to help us transform empty buildings into thriving, bustling Fringe spaces.
Our spaces have become widely recognised as the home of award-winning theatre and new work at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. We host the most diverse programme at the Festival, offering an array of new writing, theatre, dance, music, children’s and family shows, comedy, drama, sketch, cabaret, opera, acapella, exhibitions, events and stand-up comedy shows. Our passion is relentless and our expertise extensive.
Our team make this possible. What started as a small group of friends in a church hall back in 1995 is now a monster effort spread across multiple sites in central Edinburgh yet we still pride ourselves in offering the quality of service and attention to detail that came with the small scale operation - our customers, whether theatre companies or members of the public - know they’ll be looked after in our venues.
People who have worked for us have gone on to major roles in the industry, from cruise ships to Glastonbury, Scottish Opera and the National Theatre Wales to the West End, from working for hire companies to national broadcasters, schools to regional theatres - even the United Nations! The Festival provides valuable experience that you can take with you in your future career.
The experience is unrivalled, incredibly unique and hugely rewarding - and we’re proud that many come back to be part of our Fringe family year after year.
We very much look forward to hearing from you.
Pay and Perks
At theSpaceUK, we are firmly committed to offering our staff a meaningful wage while working for us in Edinburgh. We offer in excess of both the UK Government's National Living Wage and Living Wage Scotland's real Living Wage. For our 2024 Fringe we are pleased to offer a minimum rate of £12.00 per hour for all staff.
All our roles are shift-based. As no two venues operate exactly the same hours due to show lengths, your shifts will be adjusted to fit the needs of your particular venue(s). There may be early starts and late finishes (we typically operate between 0900 and 0100, but we don't work overnight). Shifts are typically between 6 and 8 working hours with breaks as required. We ensure a minimum of 11 hours off between shifts and 2 full days off per 14-day period worked.
As members of our team we also offer free tickets to any of our shows (subject to ticket availability). With over 400 shows throughout our venues there's loads to see! We also give you a set of branded clothing which helps identify you as a member of our team and you can get discounts at our bars.
