A contemporary adaptation of Voltaire's Candide, this devised ensemble work depicts the optimist's journey from innocence to experience. Candide is raised in a sheltered environment and taught that everything is for the best. On leaving home, he discovers that the world is not as perfect as he thinks. He sees the harshness of life, but he never loses faith in people's goodness. Featuring colourful characters and poetic storytelling, this production from Hong Kong, by an award-winning director, is a fun and thought-provoking exploration of the human condition. With live music.
